Parent Council
Parent Council Information
There are two scheduled Parent Council meetings a year (one each semester). There may also be a few special meetings called as the need arises throughout the year. According to our charter, our council is made up of 19 members who serve 2 year terms. The Parent Council Subcommittees are: fundraising, graduation, group educational activities, yearbook, and STAR volunteer coordination.
The first parent council meeting for the 2011/2012 school year will be on
October 19, 2011 at 2pm via Webex phone conference.
The Role of the Parent Council Member
- Uphold the mission of the school
- Serve for a 2 year term
- Be a parent of a SMCS student
- Monitor school’s performance
- Monitor own performance
- Make suggestions to improve school
- Attend 2 teleconference meetings per year and any special meetings that arise
- Serve on a subcommittee
- Be involved in the WASC accreditation process
- Do not have a personal agenda
- Be positive!
